It states on the bottle that its a blend of Canadian whiskey and Kentucky bourbon. That’s the biggest load of fickle matter I’ve ever heard. They should have labeled it a woman’s whiskey that captures the perfect blend of Malibu rum and (insert a flavored vodka here). It was like I was drinking a white Russian all night long. Needless to say I was very disappointed in it. It does however go very well with coke as it has a very vanilla/hazelnut taste to it. It goes down very smooth. A good selection if you are wanting to break-in the old lady on the art of whiskey drinking, but never would I be caught dead with a bottle of this in my hands around the boys. Not a huge dent in the pocket book as it only cost $18. Like I said its a woman’s whiskey. I like women and whiskey all the same but never at the same time, only one after the other.

Preferably the whiskey then the woman because then you would be getting lucky at the end of the night, but I’m sure we’ve all been there where a fifth of whiskey was needed to remove any memory of the woman that came before the bottle or had a figure that looked like the bottle.
Rating: I give Phillips Union whiskey a 40 on a scale of 100. Its in that category of “Only drink it if its free or if it will get you laid, anytime else is just not worth it.”

Your rating is so spot-on that I was laughing. Seriously. And did you know they actually make it in a Vanilla? RIDICULOUS. You’re right though, I could imagine it being pretty good as a mixer…though I’ve never tried. Bourbon was meant to be sipped straight, or at the very least with ice.
I wish I would have read this review before picking up a bottle at BevMo today… it is way too sweet, even the “regular” tastes like vanilla. Really glad it’s not that expensive!
I like it and everyone I know likes it. We drink it straight. It’s like Crown Royal with a good flavor. The Vanilla and Cherry flavors are not good (too sweet)
I almost picked up a bottle of this at the liquor store, but was put off by how cheap it was. Something didn’t seem right.
Then i realized it was from Phillips, the bargain liquor of my youth. I might turn to Phillips for some Hot 100, but not for something to sip.
I bought this stuff cause it was on sale and I looked it up on your site when I got it home. After reading the review I thought you guys were full of it. How can it be that bad. I WILL NEVER DOUBT YOU AGAIN! I am currently choking it down.
You guys are a bunch of pussies…. This is fine, smooth and it does get me laid, but that’s after I apply my brains, looks and personality…..
Didn’t mind it considering I was drinking it with Diet Coke. It’s a good whiskey for mixing, but i would never drink it straight.
Found it here on the discount table here in ND. Like trying new things, etc… Just tried it, and it’s palatable. Certainly less overtly sweet and vanilla taste than Black Velvet. Probably best mixing with coke.
Most Phillips brand stuff is just plain awful, but everyone I know loves this one. It is amazingly smooth when mixed with coke.
love your products, I’m sipping the straight bourbon/canadian whiskey right now, but as a designer I’d love to know who designed your packaging.
