Just spent a long weekend at the Bourbon Festival in Bardstown and I have to say that, of all the amazing bourbons I tasted, BH and Elijah Craig 18 Year were the best. BH has always been a favorite of mine.

I would also agree that a bourbon should not be watered down with water or ice, but that’s a personal preference. Since the widely-held proper way to test taste bourbon is to take a small snifter of it neat, swirl, put the glass under your nose and breathe in through your mouth, I think that when you drink it, it is best tasted without anything else in the glass.

As always, it’s personal preference and opinion. Ultimately, it should be enjoyed, and that is up to the enjoyer.

NEAT!!!! That is the only way you drink good bourbon. No ice lemon, lime, sugar, salt and DEFINITELY NO COKE!! JK, enjoy your bourbon how you will. Anyways, Although not a great bourbon in my opinion due to it’s lack of complexity, BH is a very good and very smooth 80 proof bourbon. I would suggest it to anyone who is a novice in the bourbon drinking world. Definitly a good one to break you in before trying some of the bigger ones.

If you have to splash it with something try Ginger Ale. That is the recommended splash on the tag on the bottle. It really needs no splash though. My favorite hands down.

Learned of B/H 14 years ago and haven’t put it down since! I recommend it to everyone I know that drinks bourbon. I just challenged my boss that it would be better than his crown royal special reserve, he said he’s never found anything that could beat it…he’s gonna get schooled tonight! Time he learns how the big boys do it!

Tried it last night at a tasting and it was wonderful. I like Gentleman, Makers and Crown, but this is the smoothest of them all.

I had a small tasting of some small batch bourbons all from the beam family (knob creek, basil haydens, bookers, and bakers)and the BH was my fav. neat it was good with a slight caramel nose add one small cube of ice and the caramel comes out alot and sweetens up nicely.
